Types of the Novel - Romangattungen
Die Vielzahl der seit dem Entwicklungsbeginn des Romans im 18. Jh. geschaffenen Romane lässt sich je nach Entstehungszeit (date of origin), Stoffauswahl (subject matter), Form (composition), Aussageweise (form of expression) oder Anspruch an den Leser (literary standard) bestimmten Gattungen zuordnen. Es zeigt sich, dass der einzelne Roman in der Regel mehreren Gattungen zugehörig ist. Welche Gattungsbildungen möglich sind, wird in einer Übersicht veranschaulicht.
The great number of novels produced since the creation of the genre in the 18th century can be divided into groups or genres, according to their subject matter, form of expression, composition, literary standard or date of origin. Most novels belong to more than one genre.
